After the death of her mother, young Honda Tooru has been secretly living on her own in a tent. Her life changes forever when she stumbles upon the secret of the Souma family, whose land she has been living on.
The secret of the Souma family is no laughing matter however, it is a curse – a curse that holds horrible cruelity and heartbreak. Thirteen members of the family are possessed by spirits of the Chinese zodiac and turn into their zodiac animal (in a certain situation, or when under stress. When Tohru discovers the Sohmas’ secret, she promises not to tell and is allowed to keep living with them. The Sohma’s curse, however, is deeper and darker than Tohru realized, but her presence soon becomes a large, positive influence on those possessed by the zodiac. She sets out to break the curse, and on the way, meets and discovers each of the Sohma’s vengeful zodiac spirits. Tohru’s existence changes the Sohma clan’s lives forever.
Fruits Basket is one of those rare shows that can move you emotionally: it makes you laugh, cry and sometimes gives you such a warm feeling.
Sometime’s I think the word “heartwarming” has been invented just for Fruits Basket 😀
Yes, warm, sweet, funny, touching and sometime’s heartbreaking, that is Fruits Basket. It talks about life, family, friendship, love, the struggle to fit in, belonging, acceptance, and forgiveness.
I love Fruits Basket opening theme.
Few notes about this trailer:
-It’s a bit dark; however, you should keep in mind that the show has a very light-hearted side as well, sometimes even hilarious.
-The show is NOT religiously offensive in anyway.
